The Best Labor Day Sales | 2026 Round Up

Last updated: September 4, 2026

Labor Day always feels like the real new year to me. The pool towels get washed one last time, the pumpkin candle comes out weeks too early, and I start thinking about boots and sweaters. It's also the weekend retailers use to clear out summer and quietly mark down the fall pieces that just landed — which is a very good combination for anyone who plans ahead.

Below is my round up of the best Labor Day 2026 sales worth your time. I'll be updating this all weekend as more get announced, so check back Saturday and Monday.

Apparel

The trap this weekend is the summer clearance rack. It's the deepest discount you'll see all year on sundresses and swim, and almost none of it will get worn before it's 50 degrees. A few rules I follow:

Buy fall, not summer. Denim, boots, knitwear, and outerwear are the pieces you'll wear starting next week. That's where the discount actually earns its keep.

Summer clearance only if it's a repeat. A swimsuit you'd rebuy anyway or a linen piece you'll live in on a winter trip — fine. A trend you'd be seeing for the first time in June? Pass.

Denim is the single best buy of the weekend. It's the one category where the fall markdowns are real and where cost per wear is basically nothing.

Snake Belt | Jacket | Flats | Jeans | Top | Blazer | Black Belt | Tote | Earrings | Scarf | Clutch

What I’m buying:

Aureum Clutch — I've been eyeing this clutch for awhile and it's time to scoop it up at 25% off! Initially I was thinking of the green croc, but they just launched lizard and now I'm torn.

Toteme Scarf — Designer without screaming it from the rooftops, cozy, and 40% off.

Agolde Denim — My #1 favorite denim on major sale and this dark wash will look so good with knits and black boots this fall.

Collarless SRG Blazer — This looks so much like a designer blazer I had eyed before, but this one is on sale for under $250. I have a few other pieces from SRG and am always happy with the fit and quality. I'd wear this to the office (if I still went to one!) or for datenight with a pair of black shorts while the weather is still warmer and then denim and heels this winter.

One I'm personally passing on: My girlfriend bought this dress over the summer but I'm stopping myself from buying it right now even though it's on sale. It was super cute on her but realistically I wouldn't be wearing it until next summer and by then there will be other items on my wishlist.

Home

Labor Day is the biggest home sale of the year and most people spend it on clothes. Mattresses, rugs, bedding, and lighting all hit their real annual low this weekend, and outdoor furniture is at its deepest clearance of the season. If you've had something sitting in a cart since July, this is the weekend.

Art | Planter | Coasters (also in gold) | Floral Stems | Sheets | Bowls | Candlesticks | Chair

What I’m buying:

Made In Dinner Bowls — Another rec from a girlfriend. She bought these entree bowls a couple months ago and now she's planning to stock up on more dishes during their sale this weekend. I think I might give them a try too.

Fancy Coasters — These are just simply stunning. Are they only coasters? Yes. But sometimes the littlest details can make the biggest impact. These would also make an amazing housewarming or Christmas gift.

Glass Candlesticks — Am I in the market for candlesticks? Nope. But I am always watching for special pieces to fill bookshelves or decorate the table on special occasions. And for this price, I'm considering buying two sets.

Statement Art — I love the colors in this piece and the price is so good for the size!

Floral Stems — The texture in these is so delicate yet modern. I'm thinking about buying 4-6 branches to use on my entry table.

Beauty

Beauty markdowns are thinner over Labor Day than in November, so I treat this one as a restock weekend for my tried-and-true staples rather than a discovery weekend.

Infrared PEMF Mat | Dyson | Makeup Set | Detergent | Sunscreen | Lash & Brow Serum

What I’m buying:

Sheet Masks — I use these masks ALL THE TIME so anytime they're on sale I make sure to restock my supply.

Lash & Brow Serum — My girlfriends and I swear by these growth serums - and we’ve tried a bunch over the years. These serums definitely work when you’re consistent and the best part about the brow serum is the brush - you can really work the product in!

Laundry Detergent — This is such a great scent for bedding and since it's on the pricier side, it's another great item to take advantage of a sale.

Infrared PEMF Mat — I don't know how many times I've considered buying this mat. My girlfriend uses hers every night to wind down for bed. She habit stacks

One I'm passing on: anything I haven't finished a full bottle of yet.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do the 2026 Labor Day sales start and end?

Most Labor Day sales go live Thursday, September 3 or Friday, September 4 and run through end of day Monday, September 7, 2026. A handful of home and furniture brands start the Monday before, and a few extend through Tuesday. The best sizes and colorways are usually gone by Saturday, so shop early in the weekend rather than waiting for the last day.

What's actually worth buying during Labor Day sales?

Mattresses, rugs, bedding, and outdoor furniture hit their deepest markdowns of the entire year this weekend. On the fashion side, denim, boots, and outerwear are the smart buys because you'll wear them starting immediately. You can shop everything I'm buying in my full round up of the best Labor Day sales.

Should you buy summer clearance on Labor Day?

Only if it's something you'd rebuy anyway. Summer clearance is the deepest discount you'll see all year on swim, sundresses, and sandals, but you won't wear any of it for another nine months. A swimsuit you love in a new color or a linen piece for winter travel makes sense — a trend you're seeing for the first time does not.

Is Labor Day or Black Friday better for home and furniture?

Labor Day, without question, for mattresses, furniture, rugs, and patio. Retailers use the weekend to clear floor models and outdoor inventory before fall, and the discounts are steeper than anything you'll see in November. Save Black Friday for electronics, small appliances, and beauty.

Do you need a promo code for Labor Day sales?

Some sales apply automatically at checkout, but many of the best offers require a code — and a few stack an extra percentage on top of already-reduced prices. I've listed the code alongside every sale above and I update them throughout the weekend as new ones are announced, so check back before you check out.
