Neutrals. I can’t get enough of them. And when a wardrobe is built around the foundation of neutrals, it makes for endless outfit combinations. Grey, tan, black, white, denim, you name it – these hues pair back to everything. But what about wearing just ONE of the colors? Take for example this monochromatic grey outfit from Nordstrom.

Each piece is great on it’s own, meaning, there isn’t much of a challenge when thinking about what to pair a grey sweater with. But the outfit gets so much more interesting when the same color is worn though out the look. And since I’m always searching for new neutrals to add to my wardrobe, Nordstrom is the first place I look to. From sweaters & coats, to denim & accessories, there are plenty of pieces to choose from at Nordstrom help create any type of monochromatic outfit this season.

When it comes to wearing a monochromatic outfit, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Don’t be afraid to mix textures. Actually you want to do this. In this outfit I mixed cashmere, wool, and denim for added interest.
  • Look for different shades of the color. Adding some variation in hue adds depth and dimension to the look, this way it doesn’t seem so flat.
  • Add accessories that pop. I could have chosen a grey handbag & pumps, but instead I opted for black, which helps make this ensemble really stand out.

A special thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Where’s your gray coat from your picture from? I like that pocket on the right side, the fact that it has 1 main button as opposed to 3 like the one you tagged.

    Thanks!
