As much as I’ve been loving the addition of color to my wardrobe lately, I will always fall back on a simple, chic black and white look because you truly can’t go wrong with the combo. Recently, I was browsing Nordstrom and came across this adorable puff sleeve smocked blouse by ASTR THE LABEL for under $40! You guys know how I feel about sleeve details, so I was immediately intrigued and ordered it in black (and white) right away.
I’m happy to report that it’s just as good as I thought it would be! It has every feminine detail that makes a summer blouse so good: square neckline, a peplum hemline, smocked bodice, and statement-making short sleeves. It’s also 100% cotton, which makes it super lightweight for hot summer days! I love to see the peplum making a comeback! Peplum itself is such a flattering cut, as it typically accentuates your curves and gives you shape rather than just sort of hanging on you. While I went with classic black (and white), this blouse is available in a bunch of colors including pale yellow, lavender, light blue, and blush.
To complete the look, I wore this Nordstrom blouse with a pair of white jeans and a classic pair of black, block-heel, two-strap sandals. This is the perfect look to wear for a summer date night, a girl’s brunch, or as summer workwear!
