One of the most popular New Year's resolutions is to "get in shape". For me I've never been one to make resolutions that aren't achievable for my lifestyle. Life happens and "I'm going to work out everyday for a month!" is just setting myself up for failure and disappointment. I try to live a fairly healthy lifestyle throughout the year, whether that's food, fitness, or lifestyle habits, which makes January resolutions less daunting. So today I'm sharing 5 tips for living a healthy {achievable} lifestyle this year!

1. Set Realistic Workout Goals & Stick With Them
As I mentioned, working out everyday is typically challenging for most people due to the busy lives we live. So, take a look at your calendar & prioritize days for working out. Make a list of workouts you can do from home if you can't make it to a gym, like my from-home mat ab workout routine. If you are able to add on extra days, great, but hold yourself accountable for staying the course.
2. Find an Accountability Buddy
Whether it's your partner, friend, family member, or online community, find someone with similar goals as you and hold each other accountable. Maybe its a friend you go to the gym with, or making healthy meals at home with your partner, or joining one of the online workout groups. Having a support system is always beneficial.
3. Try New Recipes
We all have our go-to meals, and that's not to say they aren't all unhealthy, but finding new {healthy} meals might spark some new interest. Last year I started adding more vegetables & spices into my dishes, and found how much I loved the new flavors. I was inspired to keep eating clean and recently found this book which I'm excited to try.
4. Take Time For Yourself
We live in a very fast-paced world and always trying to hurry up and get to the next "thing", whatever that maybe. Try to focus on living more in the present & and take time for yourself. Whether its a spa treatment, reading that book you've been putting off, or perhaps learning a new hobby. Focus your energy on something new.
5. Sleep Smarter
Have a wakeup time & bedtime, just like when you were younger. 6-8 hours of quality sleep time is important for having the energy you need for the day ahead. Try not to be on social media right before bed, give yourself time to unwind. This is something I'm working on for 2020!
