We all have those items in our closet that have been worn time and time again. But have they been worn differently each of those times, or is it the same way but slightly modified? As one of my resolutions I shared earlier this year, I mentioned I was going to be more thoughtful with my purchases in trying to select items that were versatile and would give more options for creating ensembles.

Today’s post is the first of five, where I will be sharing how to wear the white button-down shirt styled multiple ways. I would guess almost everyone has a version of this shirt in their closet, but has only worn it a few different ways. Trends come and go quickly, so styling a classic item, like the white shirt, you have the benefit of creating new outfits that will be timeless. And due to the versatility of the shirt, you can mix in of-the-moment trends for effortless style.

I chose my sleeveless turtleneck sweater as a layering piece for the first look. As soon as I bought this sweater last year, I knew it would become a closet staple. I love how this combo instantly elevated a basic look, simply by adding one piece.
