16 Outfit Ideas To Be the Best Dressed Guest for Thanksgiving

Ah, Thanksgiving. The holiday where we all get dressed up only to eat until we are forced to unbutton our pants and compromise our outfits we spent so much time putting together! I don’t know why we all feel the need to dress to the nines for a holiday where you literally sit around all day eating, but I love it. No matter what your personal style is, I’m sharing some women’s Thanksgiving outfit ideas you can wear whether it’s a Friendsgiving, a family affair, an in-law situation, and everything in-between. Don’t forget to check out my 2024 Hostess with the Mostess gift guide if you’re a guest this year and don’t want to show up empty handed!

Friendsgiving

Your friends are your second family, so you can go either way with your Thanksgiving look—casual or dressy. If everyone is dressing up, though, I say go for it and wear a cute fall outfit. After all, you know there’s going to be pictures and stories posted and you want to be looking your best pre and post turkey!

Thanksgiving at Home

It doesn’t get more casual than spending the holiday at home with your immediate family—super comfy but flattering sweater dress for Thanksgiving anyone? If you’re wondering what to wear to a casual Thanksgiving lunch or dinner, these are some of my favorite cute and cozy looks!

First Thanksgiving with Partner / In-Laws

If it’s your first holiday season as a married/engaged/established couple and you’re spending it with their family, you’re probably wondering what to wear to Thanksgiving dinner with your in-laws (possible or inevitable). Since this is a first and you’re entering uncharted waters, I think it’s safe to go a bit dressier whether you’re wearing a Thanksgiving outfit for warm weather or cold weather. You can always dress down next year if that’s the vibe!

The taupe (are they taupe or a pink/gray tint) over the knee boots, can you tell me what brand they are?! Even if it’s no longer made… I could try to find a resale? Thank you! I LOVE them!
