As much as fall is a time to take stock of your outerwear (jackets, coats, cardigans), it’s also time to consider the jeans you have and the ones you need. If you’re anything like me, you probably have a lot of jeans but only a few favorites. When it comes to black denim, Madewell’s black ripped skinny jeans are my #1.

I’ve had these jeans for years (maybe five), and can’t seem to find a pair as good as them. They just have the perfect touches all-around: ripped knees, raw hem, the perfect mid-rise, and they fit like a glove. I’ve worn them so many times with so many outfits, so it’s safe to say I’ve gotten my wear from them. Obviously I featured them in my denim guide because they are that good. Another reason I love Madewell jeans is because they’re available in regular, petite, tall and curvy fit so you can find the exact style for your body that makes you feel like a million bucks.

While I love black-on-black outfits, a fun trick is to wear a neutral color shoe with it. The Marc Fisher booties in the shade cloud add the perfect pop to this monochrome look, and reads so chic!
