The Complete Guide to Buying Levi’s Jeans for Women

When I think of classic blue jeans, Levi’s are always and have always been the first thing that comes to mind. There’s just nothing better than finding the perfect pair of Levi’s that fit exactly how they’re supposed to, and don’t even get me started on the feel of worn-in, well-worn Levi’s—THE BEST!

However, finding the perfect pair of Levi’s isn’t always easy. There are a lot to choose from and someone’s most flattering fit may be your least flattering. That’s why I wanted to create this Levi’s jeans shopping guide, to take you through some of the most popular styles and how they compare to each other. In this post, we’re going to cover the Wedgie Icon Fit, the Wedgie Straight Fit, the 501 Skinny Fit, the 501 Original Fit, and the Ribcage Fit. I have found Shopbop to have the best selection of Levis, especially in the fall!

If you’ve been looking for a Levi’s 501 jeans review, you’ve come to the right place! I’ll cover how Levi’s 501 fit, which Levi’s jeans stretch, and talk about Levi’s 501 stretch vs original, so keep scrolling for all the answers. The most asked question is in regards to the main difference between the Levi's Wedgie Fit and Levi's 501 Skinny is the leg style. Wedgie has a tapered leg and they aren't quite as snug through the hips, while the 501 Skinny fit like a true skinny jeans.

Editor's Note: I'm 5'10 & my true size in Levi's is a 26, items will be marked TTS (true to size), or I'll advise if I size up! If you're ever in doubt of which size to buy, I highly recommend ordering two sizes to see what fit you like best!

Wedgie Icon Fit: This is a "newer" style for me to try and I can see why its so popular! Featuring a high rise and just a touch of stretch, Levi's Wedgie jeans are a forever-favorite for good reason. This slim-straight version of the style features a cropped leg that makes them ideal for spotlighting a favorite shoe. Because these have a little stretch, they don't need to be "broken in". Outfit details here.

Wedgie Icon Fit: This is a "newer" style for me to try and I can see why its so popular! With a fit that hugs your waist and hips, these Levi's wedgie jeans are ready to show off your assets. The soft, faded wash gives it an easy, everyday vibe. Because these have a little stretch, they don't need to be "broken in". Outfit details here.

Wedgie Icon Fit: I got this pair last month and loved them so much I added them to my fall capsule wardrobe! A signature style from the denim experts at Levi’s, these Wedgie jeans have an iconic fit that's finished with a perfectly faded wash for a worn-in look. Because these have a little stretch, they don't need to be "broken in". Outfit details here.

Wedgie Straight: These iconic Levi's jeans come with the brand's signature wedgie silhouette for a fit that hugs your waist and hips. A faded wash and low-key distressing adds a laid-back, everyday feel to the cropped style. I really love this pair and know I'm going to wear them a ton this fall. This pair does run small, and since they don't have stretch, I suggest sizing up! Outfit details here.

501 Skinny: I got these jeans last year and they were the best light wash non ripped jeans that go with all shoe styles. Perfect for fall with booties or spring with sandals and sneakers. They are super comfortable, and because these have a little stretch, they don't need to be "broken in". Outfit details here.

501 Skinny: Since I loved the Tango Light version of the 501 skinnies, I decided to get another wash and this color is going to be a staple for fall. It's such a great classic blue that goes with really everything! And, because these have a little stretch, they don't need to be "broken in". Outfit details here.

501 Skinny Ripped: I don't even know how long I've had these jeans, but if you've been following for a while, you know they are my go-to ripped jeans. These however do run tight. I still took my true size though and let me tell you why. With this pair, if you can button them (even if they are tight), keep them. Because they are 100% cotton they will stretch out and the denim will relax. I could barely button them when I got them but now they are so worn, they fit just like any other pair of jeans. But if you like a relaxed pair anyways, then size up! Outfit details here.

501 Original Fit: This is a "newer" style for me to try and I LOVE them! First off they are actually long enough for me! I don't mind when jeans are a little cropped, but love the length of this pair.Add a classic to your denim rotation with these signature Levi's 501 jeans. This timeless pair feels ready for weekends, thanks to a shredded and faded wash. Even though these don't have stretch I took my true size. They feel great! Outfit details here.

Ribcage Straight: This is a "newer" style for me to try as well, and again, its another home run! Levi's signature Ribcage jeans are crafted with a sky-high rise to give your waist the maximum amount of definition. A super-faded wash and relaxed fit gives this pair the feel of a vintage favorite. These on trend jeans are a great way to elongate your legs with a pair of heels too! Outfit details here.

I recently bought 2 pairs of Levi’s that you recommended (wedgie icon and 501 skinny). I took your advice on the sizing and both pairs look AMAZING! Thank you!
