We are finally emerging from the winter weather, which means beach season is upon us! Spring break is right around the corner, then comes summer, so I know a lot of you are probably taking inventory of your beach gear and wondering what are beach essentials this year? In an effort to help you get ahead of packing for your next beach trip, I’ve put together this list of the best beach essentials for women to pack so you have everything you could possibly need on vacation (plus a little extra)! Below, you’ll find all kinds of ideas for what to put on your packing list from swimsuits and cover-ups, to resort-appropriate beach dresses and beach pants, and of course all the accessories like sunglasses, sandals, and the always-necessary beach hat and beach tote. Let’s get you ready for your first beach trip of the year!
Swimsuits
Swimsuits are probably the most personal clothing item you can buy. If you’re getting vulnerable by showing some skin in a public setting, you want to feel 100% confident so I’ve selected a pretty wide variety of swimsuits to inspire your shopping list, from full coverage bikinis and one-pieces, to sets that show a little more. Swimsuit shopping can be anxiety-inducing, but it can also be really fun and energizing when you know what style fits you best, which is why I’m sharing so many today!
Coverups
Whether you like to keep things simple with a lightweight dress or want every opportunity to show off your fashion sense with a fun, matching set, you can have a lot of fun with coverups for the beach vacations. You’ll be wearing your swimsuits the most, with coverups being a close second, so you want to have a few that you feel confident in while you stroll around the grounds (or really from the pool to the bar and the bar to the pool, let’s be honest). Shop this look here.
Beach Dresses
Coverups are strictly casual for daytime wandering. Beach dresses are a whole different area. When you’ve rinsed off from the day and are basking in the glow of your sunkissed skin, you want to feel beautiful as you head to dinner and this collection of playful and gorgeous beach dresses will help you feel like the sun goddess you are!
Beach Pants
There is nothing more chic than wearing a fabulous pair of beach pants over your swimsuit. They also come in handy if you end up with an unplanned sunburn and don’t want to forgo the sun entirely, but need some unexpected protection. With the wide leg being so on trend right now, shopping for flowy, chic, high-waisted beach pants is easier than ever and these are just some of my favorites.
Beach Skirts
For nights out on a beach vacation, I like to keep it simple, but obviously still chic. I normally like to pack pieces that can go from day to night, and these satin skirts are perfect for just that! I paired them with easy tanks and sandals for comfort and easy of dressing (and packing)!
Shorts
If coverups and beach pants aren’t really your thing and you’re a legs-out-no-matter-what kind of girl, the right kind of beach shorts always come in handy. Sometimes the easiest thing to slip on when you need to run back to the room, use the restroom, or grab a quick drink at the bar are a great pair of resort-appropriate shorts.
Accessories
My biggest piece of beach vacation advice is this: ALWAYS BRING TWO PAIRS OF SUNGLASSES! The first time you go on vacation with one pair of sunglasses and either lose or break them, it’s your last. I didn’t need this to happen twice before I learned my lesson, so I’m sharing a mix of both designer and dupe sunglasses you can pack in your carry-on. I’ve also linked some of my favorite beach totes, hats, and sandals so you’re completely covered when it comes to the necessary beach accessories!
